Studies on the Growth and Flowering Habits of Cucumber Plant Cucumis Sativus L., Treated with Various Concentrations of CCC and Phosfon - D

Abstract
The growth and flowering habits of cucumber plant, Cucumis sativus L., planted in the 24§¯ pot treated to the soil surface of the pot after 1st true leaf was emerged with various concentrations of CCC 2-chloroethyl trimethyammonium chloride 100, 200, 400, and 800 p.p.m, and Phosfon-D (2,4-dichlorobenzyl-tributylphosphoniumchloride) powder 5gr at outdoor to clarify the practical utilization of the chemicals in the cultivating field on 23 May, 1967.
The results obtained were as follows:
1. Treatment of higher concentrations of CCC produced the shorter internodes. Phosfon-D showed the same effects of shortened tenth of shoots and internodes.
2. There is no significant difference in the number of expanded leaves between each treatment and control plots.
3. The first tendril was formed on the higher node in the 800 p.p.m. CCC treated plots.
4. Number of lateral shoots produced was more numerous in the Phosfon-D than CCC plot.
5. Height of node and number of nodes produced female flower of the first flowering were lowered in the CCC 800 p.p.m.
6. Required days for flowering of female flower of the first flowering the first female flower was little differed from in the each experimented plot.
7. Number of female flower on the main stem was not significant to the 20th nodes but female flowers were increased to the 30th nodes and total female flowers in the CCC 200, 400, and 800 p.p.m. On the main stem, two female flowers on one nodes was strikingly formed from 15 to 30th nodes. Total female flowers on the lateral shoots were more increased in the Phosfon-D and CCC 800 p.p.m. plot than control plot.
8. Fruit weight, number of fruits, and products showed little differences between chemicals and control plot.
